A Day to honor American Veterans of all Wars

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, there are more than 22 million veterans who have served in the armed forces and have since reintegrated back into society. As a nation, we honor these brave men and women on Veterans Day – a day that exists to pay tribute veterans, both living and deceased. It’s an especially important time to honor living veterans who have served honorably during wartime or peacetime. This year, Veterans Day takes place on Tuesday, November 11.

In 1938, an act made November 11 a Federal holiday. It wasn’t officially named “Veterans Day” until 1954, when Congress amended the 1938 act that had named the holiday “Armistice Day,” in honor of the day World War I ended. Veterans Day in Kentucky

Veterans Day ceremonies will take place across the state on Tuesday. In Louisville, the Fourth Annual Veterans Day Parade & Massing of Colors will take place at 11 am in Downtown Louisville. Bring the whole family to honor American veterans, both past and present. The 11 o’clock hour marks an important historical event: the 11th hour of the 11th day, in the 11th month, which marks the end of World War I at 11am, November 11th, 1918.
