Last month, a US District Judge found for the defendants, Johnson & Johnson, in one of the very first transvaginal mesh cases. The judge said there was not enough evidence of either the device’s defects or the woman’s injuries. There are many more claims from women who allege they were injured by defective transvaginal mesh and sling devices.

According to lawyeresandsettlements.com, some involved attorneys believe this case is not representative of the verdicts they expect in other cases. One lawyer is quoted as saying this case was a weaker case, and was influenced by laws particular to Texas. Many attorneys handling these transvaginal mesh cases believe there is ample evidence of the devices’ defects and the serious injuries they can cause.

Johnson & Johnson is currently facing more than 12,000 claims because of its TVT Retropubic slings and vaginal mesh inserts. Many of these claims – and claims against Endo Health Solutions, Bard and Boston Scientific and others – allege that vaginal mesh devices pose serious risks that women who received them were not informed of. These risks include mesh erosion, migration, and hardening of the device.
